Course Description
The course provides students with theoretical and methodological inputs for their own support and encourage discourse analysis on various dimensions as part of their professional development as future teachers of English. This course is presented as an instance of integration of knowledge already acquired; consequently, theoretical and methodological proposals have been selected to encourage and develop an analytical approach to different types of discourses written and oral. This subject must be taught in English.

In this first assignment of the course, we were required to read and write a summary about the text "Text, discourse, discours" written by Harmut Haberland. This summary was aimed to be the first attempt for us to understand what Text and Discourse is, and their main difference.
Thanks to this work, we could have a basis of what these concepts are about so we could understand and develop our knowledge through the course in a better way. Besides, as it was carried on in groups of 3 people, we could also develop our group-work skills in the process.

Assignment 2: Text and Discourse
Assignment 2 was about creating a Power Point presentation about the main concepts and the relationship among them from the texts "Linguistics forms and functions" by Brown and "Text, discourse, discours" by Haberland.
Through the process of developing this work, not only I was able to better understand these key concepts and their differences, but I also put in practice my capability of reading and recognizing the most important lexical items. Besides, I think that this type f work helps to clarify my doubts about the content and also to practice my reading skills.

Assignment 3: What is discourse analysis?
For the third assignment, I had to create a Prezi presentation where I explain the key concepts of the text "Discourse Analysis: An Introduction" written by Paltridge (2012). As the previous assignemtns, this helped me to work on my reading skills and to better understand this content. In addition, new concepts were introduced and described to the subject.

For assignment 4, in groups of 3, we had to create a Power Point presentation in order to explain one of the models that were mentioned in the text "Defining communicative competence" written by Bagarić and Djigunović (2007). Although I considered this to be the most difficult for me to learn since it was different from the others in the text, I found myself capable of explaining it to my classmates later during the class.
During the second part of this assignment, each group had to explain their model to the class. This part helped me a lot to understand much clearer the different models of Communicative Competence, as well as the concept itself.

Assignment 5: Discourse and Society
As well as in assignment 3, we were asked to create a Prezi presentation where we explain the key concets of the text "Discourse and Society". Apart from helping me to better understand the relation between the production of text, society and identity, this work helped me to practice using this software. Besides, with this type of assignments, I can practice my reading and summarizing skills, highlighting the key concets and only focusing on what is the most important information of the text.
Assignment 6: Pragmatics and Discourse
For this assignment, we had to create a Mind Map in order to sum up the text about Pragmatics in Discourse. By reading this text and then re-reading it to look for the ones I considered to be the main concepts, i was able to better understand the text. Furthermore, now I am much more aware of the changes I unconsciously make when speaking and communicating with different people in my life.
Because of this awareness, I think it will help me to better explain to my future students how important is the context when we communicate, and the importance of understanding the setting in which we are.
Assignment 7: Text Structure
As well as in the previous assignment, we created a Mind Map about Text Structures. This time, we had to do the reasearch on our own for complementing the texts provided by the teacher, and define which were the most important aspects of each structure. It was quite difficult for me to decide which structures I was going to choose and how I was going to describe them. Additionally, in class I discover some of us had found different information. However, through the process of discussion, we were able to make an agreement and complement each other to make the best definitions we could.
