Applied Linguistics
Course Description
This course focuses on the study of the main contributions of Applied Linguistics in its historical context and related disciplines. It is organized as a theoretical and practical course oriented to the teaching and learning of a second language as well as the introduction to the research methods in Applied Linguistics.
Applied Linguistics CMap
Applied Linguistics is interdisciplinary, which means it has many different areas of investigation. In order to understand better these areas, our teacher asked us to make this CMap about all these branches as a summary.

Aplied Linguistics Definition
As a group, we were asked by the teacher to develop a brief definition of Applied Linguistics, using as a guide a list of several definitions she gave us during the class.
Applied Linguistics in mainly concerned with the different problems associate with language in a social context. The most important of these is the learning of second of foreign language. Others include language policy, metalinguism, language education, assessment and treatment of language difficulties and finally the preservation and revival of endangered languages.

Behaviourism v. Constructivism
♥ According to Oxford's Dictionary, behaviourism is "the theory that all human behaviour is learnt by adapting to outside conditions and that learning is not influenced by thoughts and feelings."
♥ On the other hand, based on the webpage BusinnessDictionary.com, constructivism says learning is the result of mental processes and that students construct their knowledge based on previous experiences.
Here there is a comparative chart between both theories- I made this so it would be easier to understand the main differences between them.
